Fortnightly Dance Classes: The Parent’s Page
Registration for 2012 Classes will be announced in the spring.
Thank you for your interest in Fortnightly Dance Classes. The program has been an Evanston tradition for over 90 years. Each year we are pleased to welcome students new to the program, as well as those whose older brothers and sisters, and in some cases mothers or fathers, have also enjoyed the program. We rely on the parents of our students to help make the program a success. Your assistance in the following areas is very much appreciated.

Behavior
Prior to their participation in the program, please talk to your child about appropriate behavior. Respect should be shown to their peers, the instructors, chaperones and those hosting the evening. The program is designed to teach dancing fundamentals and proper etiquette. Students not interested in learning or who display inappropriate behavior will be dismissed from the program.
Student Pick-up and Safety
Students must be picked up promptly at the end of class. Please be courteous of the fact that NEMC members and chaperones remain until all students have been picked up. Parking and space is limited. Car pooling helps relieve the congestion near the Women’s Club at the end of class. Parking can be found in the Self Park across from the Women’s Club and in the Library parking lot. A parent must meet their child outside the Women’s Club. For their safety, students are not permitted to cross either Chicago Ave. or Church St. without a parent. Students are also not allowed to meet parents at any location other than the Women’s Club.
Chaperones
In addition to representatives from the North End Mothers’ Club, a minimum of 6 parent chaperones are needed for each grade session per night. We encourage you to volunteer. It’s a fun way to see what your child is learning and it helps contribute to the success of the program. We appreciate your help!

Parents Night for 6th Graders Only
This is a chance to see what your child has been learning. During the first 60 minutes you will observe a regular dance lesson. For the final 30 minutes of class you will join your child on the dance floor. Because of space constraints we ask that only one parent attend. Due to the size of the class, the 6th grade parent night is split into two evenings
DJ Party for 7th Graders Only
On the last class date the 7th graders will have a DJ Party in place of a regular dance lesson. This evening is for Fortnightly students only. No guests will be permitted.
Dress is casual, however hats are not allowed
Fortnightly Photographs
Group photos of Fortnightly Dance Classes are sometimes posted on the North End Mothers' Club website. Students are not identified in these photos.
