Recipients of 2019 NEMC Scholarships

The North End Mothers’ Club honored four ETHS seniors, presenting its annual
scholarships at the Scholarship Tea hosted by Dorothy Laudati on May 19, 2019.

The Joanne Murphy Trautwein Music Scholarship was given to Ariel Redmond, a senior soloist who has served as principal pianist for the Evanston Symphony Orchestra. She will study piano performance at Belmont University.

Two STEM scholarships were awarded: Sarah Bloom, active in Women in STEM Club and numerous coding groups, will major in computer science at Stanford University; and Kate McClintock, who has focused on construction and design studies at ETHS and on mission trips, and who will study civil engineering at University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.

The NEMC Award for Outstanding Senior (female or gender non-conforming) was given to Liana Wallace, a standout student also honored nationally as one of 150 Coca-Cola Scholars (out of 97,000 applicants) and with the Princeton Prize in Race Relations. She has kept busy as an opinion columnist for the Evanstonian, a National Library Association intern, a Kingian Non-Violence student intern, and as an actress, dancer and poet. Liana will major in international business at Georgetown University.
