SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year, Women for Evanston Youth funds four scholarships for Evanston High School seniors: The Outstanding Senior Award, The Joanne Trautwein Music Award, and two STEM Awards (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
WEY CELEBRATES ETHS SENIORS

Providing scholarships to graduating female/identifying as female seniors at ETHS is one of our key ongoing commitments to our community.

Senior Honor Award

Women for Evanston Youth Outstanding Senior award is presented annually to the ETHS senior who identifies as female or gender nonconforming, and who is voted by her classmates as best in exhibiting all-around qualities, including intellectual ability, sense of responsibility, capacity for leadership, and distinguished service to the school and community. Student must have maintained a 3.5 GPA.

Each girl in the senior class nominates one girl by written ballot. These nominations are submitted to the ETHS Committee of Awards, and the recipient is announced at the annual ETHS Awards Night.  Senior Honor Award of $1500 will be awarded each year that the student is enrolled in and attends an accredited college or university, with a maximum of 4 years. The award provides a given amount each year until graduation from college– $1,500 for first year; varies years 2 through 4 (1 student receives the scholarship for 4 years).

STEM Scholarship

New in 2011, the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) Scholarship is awarded to two graduating female students who are planning to pursue a post-secondary degree leading to a STEM career. Winners are chosen by ETHS Committee of Awards.

Formerly this award was a Nursing Scholarship, awarded from 1979 to 2010 to an ETHS senior interested in pursuing a nursing career.

Joanne Murphy Trautwein Music Award

The Joanne Murphy Trautwein Music Award was created in 1992 by the Trautwein family in honor of long time WEY member and past president, Joanne Murphy Trautwein, an accomplished musician. The award winner is selected by ETHS Committee of Awards from among those ETHS seniors who plan to study music.
